Color Theory Illustration
For this project, I explored color theory by creating five different color palettes around a blue hue: monochromatic, split-complementary, analogous, complementary and triadic. I selected the triadic palette for my final compositions because its contrasting colors created a balanced but visually engaging combination. I then used Adobe Illustrator to produce three different compositions using the same four-color palette.
Each composition allowed me to experiment with color, shape, repetition, balance and visual hierarchy in different ways. I created two repeating patterns, one featuring flowers and the other featuring cameras, as well as one composition using basic shapes. Throughout the project, I experimented with Illustrator tools such as Pucker & Bloat and clipping masks to make my visual elements.
Using the same palette across all three designs let me explore how color can shape a design's mood and structure. The project helped me understand how thoughtfully selected color palettes create engaging and cohesive compositions.
